Carolina Miranda (she/her) is the Founder and CEO of Cultivating Capital, a Certified B Corp since 2012 that works with small businesses to implement sustainable business practices. She specializes in helping companies align their business with their values by implementing best practices for social and environmental responsibility.
As a B Corp Consultant, she has helped businesses to achieve B Corp certification, get recertified, and to maintain their certifications. She is currently participating in a pilot program run by B Lab to train external verifiers and is receiving extensive training from B Lab in order to perform certification verifications independently. She is a frequent speaker presenting about B Corps at webinars and conferences, including all three of the B Corp Leadership Development Conferences held in 2020. She serves on the Executive Committee for the B Corp Women CEOs We the Change movement and supports the B Local activities in the SF Bay Area. She was awarded the 2020 Community Builders award from B Lab for her contributions to the community.
Carolina has also served as a Green Business Consultant for the Alameda County Green Business Program since 2010, working with hundreds of businesses throughout the county to help them improve their environmental practices and to get certified. She served on the California Green Business Network’s Performance Standards Committee, assisting with the development of the sustainability standards used by businesses throughout the state.
As a Sustainability Coach, she has led organizations through the development of Sustainability Action Plans, leading training sessions and providing coaching and mentoring services. Organizations that she has worked with include Pixar, Bayer, the City of Emeryville, the City of Berkeley, and Caltrans, the California Department of Transportation.
Carolina has written the Small Business Guide to Sustainable Business Practices, an online guide that is freely available to assist small business owners in developing their sustainability programs and improving the positive impact they can have through their companies.
Carolina holds an MBA in Sustainable Enterprise that combines fundamental business skills with a deep understanding of sustainable business practices. Prior to starting her own business, she had hands-on experience in developing a sustainability program and working on sustainability certifications as a Sustainability and Marketing Manager, where she certified her first B Corp in 2009.
